A Mitsubishi 4x4 camper nicknamed 'Judder' proved to be the perfect solution to accessing the vast tracts of the Icelandic hinterland and escaping the honey-pot hoards; areas of interest & beauty that are loudly touted by the Icelanders to the exclusion of many, many others. A shrewd tactic one suspects in order to keep the best bits of this magnificent, breathing hissing land to themselves.

A myriad of F-roads, gravel tracks and dusty ribbons web their way through the highlands, lacing the land and the mountains sides, skirting glaciers and fording rivers, puddles and boulder rattling flows alike. The roads are long and the driving is often slow and difficult, but not for one moment is it dull. This place assaults the senses and reawakens the weary to take notice again.
