Wader weekend (aka Shorebird Saturday/Sunday)
Waders are tough in DC, with little suitable habitat. Over at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens one of the big ponds by the Nature Centre had been drained for maintenance work - Greater Yellowlegs (7) and Solitary Sandpiper (3) were very happy!
Great Blue Heron and Great Egret were also putting on a good show.
Having narrowly missed an American Bittern, flushed by the volunteers (doing such a good job - thank you), rewards went to Paul and Hugh, kicking up a Sora over at Kenilworth Park.
